JustAnotherDesigner Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Hi folks. I'd appreciate if someone could help me out with this one. I was wondering if it would be possible to snap an art text character (in this case E) to this shape using the tracking tool as I want to have a set distance between each letter. Is there a specific option I need to turn on for this? Do I need to mess around with the spacing tools? I have in the past used and would use individual layers for each letter but I'd prefer to use a non-destructive method to keep my designs consistent when needed at a later stage. I'm quite new to Affinity overall so maybe there are other and better ways to achieve what I want? Thank you. Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) To use Snapping you would need a separate Artistic Text layer for the E. But either Kerning or Tracking will work for that simple case. I would use Kerning. In an example I just tried, a Kerning of around -46‰ worked nicely, but that will depend on your font and the width of the shape, of course. Just put the text cursor between the two letters and then drag downward through the Kerning value to adjust it.
