Hi Bigstu :)

Try using the selection tool to highlight an object you wish to retain and use on another background, then copy/paste the selection on to another background.

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

If you meant the document canvas colour, there isn't a setting/option to change it, however you can create a Fill Layer (menu Layer ▸ New Fill Layer) chose a color for it in the Colours panel and drag it to the bottom of the Layers panel (using it as a background).

 

On a sidetone, If you want to turn the canvas transparent, go to menu Document and check Transparent Background.
