Alex_M Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Layer's name filed should become editable only after the left mouse button has been released. Currently the name field becomes active when you just press and hold the left mouse button which can be an issue when dragging a layer up and down the stack - the layer's name field flashes briefly which can be unsettling for the user. Please check the screen recording I made that demonstrates the issue. Notice how the name field flashes. This can be prevented if the field becomes active only after the left mouse button has been released. layers_name_field_flashes_when_reordering.mp4 Quote Aleksandar Mitov www.renarvisuals.com CGI and 3D rendering services email: office@renarvisuals.com Affinity Photo 2.6.3 ◾ Windows 10 Pro x64 ver. 22H2 ◾ AMD Ryzen 9950X 16-core + 96 GB DDR5 ◾ GeForce RTX 5090 32GB + driver 572.83
walt.farrell Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 That is happening because you already have the layer selected in the Layers panel, I think. If you simply click and drag a layer, I do not get the "rename" function happening. But if I click a layer to select it, then click again to drag it, that second click is treated as the start of a rename operation. I suspect that's working as intended, but I agree that it would be an improvement to delay the rename function until the user has released the mouse button.
