I noticed that I can't use the flip and align commands in Arrange menu when the View or Zoom tool is selected. Is there are reason for this? I can use them with the Crop tool so why not with View and Zoom tool too?

Hi @Alex_M,

I can partly see the logic behind this, as the object isn't directly selected on the canvas, these options aren't available - however using this logic, this would mean the Arrange options also shouldn't be accessible with the Crop Tool active.

Therefore I'm logging this as a bug with our developers, so they can clarify when these options should be available and either add support with the View / Zoom tool, or remove support when the Crop Tool is active.

I hope this helps :)

Note that they're also available with the Brush Tool (and a bunch of others), where (like with View/Zoom) the object won't have a bounding box shown on the canvas.

Thanks! I would much rather have these options active with any tool active if I have a layer selected in the Layers panel. Not sure how the opposite can be harmful. If anything, it's just unnecessary clicks to make the Move tool active only to be able to flip a layer when I already know which layer I want flipped and have it selected in the layers stack. But hey, that's just my personal opinion. :)

No problem at all, I certainly understand and I agree also - my bug report states that I think these options should always be active, if you have selected the layer in the layers panel, regardless of your active tool.

Hopefully the developers concur :)

Note that the Crop Tool (like most others) are used to modify selected objects – quite different to Zoom an View Tool.

If the current option would get removed for the Crop Tool then it possibly would "need" to be removed for many other tools, e.g. Text Tool or Transparency Tool, where one might not want or expect to flip or align an entire layer or object.
