since last upgrade - photo stops responding

not used photo in a while however just updated and as soon as it loads and I open a new file it stops responding and I have to close it down which takes ages any advice please

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Please open Affinity Photo, then navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance. Within this dialog, please untick Hardware Acceleration, then restart the app prompted.

Does this reduce the 'not responding' issue you're seeing?

If wasn't a conflict with Hardware Acceleration, it might be with some other software. Check to see if your system has any of the following:

If that's not it, what are your system's specs?
