erik.palencik Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Hi in affinity designer I'm missing a lot this handsome button like gimp has "Override <opened-file>.<extension>" This works in following steps: 1. I open some MyImage.png in gimp 2. Create layers, paint something,..... 3. I press Overwrite MyImage.png And program automaticaly export content to file it came from. Its pretty useful for me, mainly when I'm working with svg or eps, in affinty primary. Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 How is that different from just using Save? erik.palencik Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 @walt.farrell with save affinity want to create new .afdesign file, which I don't need. Overwrite "MyFile.svg" will save svg to source file, no .afdesign file created. (Or maybe Export should offer at first directory of source file, not last active directory, but I thing overwrite button solves all problems) this thing could be nice for affinity photo too. I often open affinity only to modify some file just to save again that same file. Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Thanks for clarifying that. My confusion is that for you or stated sequence of steps, using .png files (or JPG or TIFF), Save will do what you want. I failed to consider that it would work differently with SVG or EPS. erik.palencik Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 @walt.farrell Sorry for confusion. First part of text is step by step in Gimp (working with png and jpg) and I would like to reproduce this workflow to Affinity (in my case svg and eps) Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 For PNG, TIFF, or JPG you can just use Save. For SVG or EPS you need to use Export, so for those files your feature request makes sense.
