Cosy Pete Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Hi All. Please forgive my ignorance but I haven’t had Affinity Publisher very long. I love it all except this issue that’s driving me mad. I created a 4 sheet poster in the templates. Created my design and then came to print it but it only has one page that is reddy coloured. There is no option that I can see to change it in anyway and it’s driving me mad. I have looked on line but to no avail. I am really confused. Any help gratefully received. Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. You have only 1 page in your document, so that's all that is showing in that Print dialog. The red tone means the page won't fit on the sheet of paper with the options you've chosen. What are you trying to accomplish with your Print operation? The entire document scaled down to fit on one sheet of paper? If so, from the "Fit Type" option in the Print dialog you probably want a different one, probably something like Fit to Page. or The document split among several sheets of paper? If so, you may want the Tiled option. Where you see Range & Scale, try seeing what other values are available, such as (perhaps) Layout, and see if that gives you what you want. I'm on Windows and can't predict exactly what the Mac Print dialog provides. or Something else? In that case, please explain further. Cosy Pete Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Hi Walt. I really appreciate your help. I want to create a poster that is 4 sheets in size to then stick together. I chose the 4 sheet poster option in the templates and then created it. I went to print and found the tile option as you so helpfully suggested but now it’s saying that it will print on 30 sheets and not 4 but that’s progress. Any help as ever is really appreciated. walt.farrell Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 If you look at your first screenshot in this topic, it shows that your document size is 60" x 40" which would be 1524mm x 1016mm. Printed on A4 sheets that would be an array of roughly 7.3 sheets by 3.4 sheets as I see it, or about 25 sheets total. So I'm not surprised at the Print dialog predicting 30 sheets. So, first, if you're going to use A4 paper you should probably adjust your document size to be compatible with A4 sizing (210 x 297 mm) rather than being in inches. And next, you'll want to modify the document size down significantly to only take 4 sheets. Perhaps (for a landscape-mode design like you have) a document size of width: 594mm x height: 420mm would work. And then for printing you may want to switch from Portrait to Landscape for the sheet orientation. Cosy Pete Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Thanks Walt. That is so helpful. I went and changed the sizes as you suggested. I put it into Tile mode and then made the overlap 1cm and voila it worked. This has vexed me for ages. I can’t thank you enough for your help. So kind. William Overington and walt.farrell 1 1 Quote
