walt.farrell Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 What do you see if you click on the category pulldown, seen below in your screenshot: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. walt.farrell Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Thanks. Then, possibly: Close the application. Press and hold the Ctrl key, and click on the application to start it. Once you get the Clear User Data dialog, release the Ctrl key. Uncheck the first 3 items in the list, and check Reset Brushes. Click the Clear button. Old Bruce Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 Even easier is to use Preferences > Miscellaneous and hit the Reset Brushes there. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I have experienced situations (mainly with Assets) where the Preferences approach didn't work, but the Ctrl Start method did. Staff Callum Posted April 12, 2022 Staff Posted April 12, 2022 Hi Hwtryan, Please could you navigate to the following path C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo\Resources and tell me if the raster_brushes.propcol file is missing? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
hwtryan Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 @walt.farrell Still not working for me, but thank you for the tips. @Callum I don't see it. Quote
Staff Callum Posted April 13, 2022 Staff Posted April 13, 2022 Hi Hwtryan, Sorry I gave the wrong path previously in your screenshot there is a Affinity Photo folder can the rasterbrushes.propcol be found inside this folder? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
hwtryan Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 all I can see in the Affinity Photo folder are rasterbrushes.strings files. None of the brushes, raster, vector etc have any .propcol in their title. Quote

hwtryan Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 this is all I see when I look. Is there a way to get all the brush files back? Quote

Is there a way to get all the brush files back? @Callum might have further comments, but the only way I know would be to reinstall the program. Or, possibly, if you run the installer again it will give you a Repair option that might work. However, it is likely that something deleted those files, and if you simply put them back whatever deleted them the first time will probably just do so again. Likely culprits would include Antivirus programs, Anti-malware programs, or cleanup programs that delete "unnecessary" files. It would be useful to know which of those programs you're using. hwtryan Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 I have anti virus and malware programs on my computer. I wouldn't be surprised if it was them as they have been known to do similar things in the past. Quote
hwtryan Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 uninstalling and re installing did the trick. thanks guys. Likely it was the virus/ malware programs as you said. thanks so much you guys!!!! walt.farrell and Callum 1 1 Quote
