Tiggia Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 For medium/larger format banners, (2m x 4m) would I be best using Affinity Publisher or Designer please? Thanks Alison Quote
Pšenda Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I don't think the "size" of the output will determine the type of application - the Affinity Suite applications are equivalent in this. It depends far more on the nature of the banner - are there photos that need to be edited beforehand? are there a graphic that needs to be drawn before? are there text that needs to be edited and formatted beforehand? Tiggia Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 Thank you for your reply I already have all the graphics sorted, the program I currently use just won't let me create a canvas that large for me to import all the individual elements on to it. If that makes sense? Quote
NotMyFault Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Designer would be the natural choice for single paged documents, Publisher for multiple page documents like books or photo albums. There is a hard limits on document size of 256000 x 256000 pixel, otherwise you can’t export. If you don’t go crazy with DPI Affinity apps can handle large files. It is possible to use a 10-day trial version for each of the ASuite applications, so you can test which of the applications will suit you best for a given task. Tiggia Posted April 4, 2022 Author Posted April 4, 2022 Thank you. I've just downloaded the trial Designer. To be fair, they are so reasonably priced maybe I should just buy both anyway! Quote

You should not forget APhoto :-) If you are editing photos, you will certainly appreciate it. If you decide to try Publisher, too, please bear in mind that (thanks to the shared file format) you’ll be able to open and edit files saved from Designer. It’s also worth noting that purchases from the Affinity Store are covered by a 14-day money back guarantee; you may be able to get a refund from the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store, but probably not as painlessly. https://store.serif.com/help/#returns 49 minutes ago, NotMyFault said: If you don’t go crazy with DPI Affinity apps can handle large files. Nobody needs to view a 4m by 2m banner from terribly close up, so 150 dpi will be more than adequate. That will keep the pixel dimensions easily manageable. iuli, NotMyFault and markw 3 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)

Have not regretted it at all. Quote
