Affinity Photo on Mac OS Catalina: unable to edit text in layer of imported psd file

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've opened a psd file (checking the preferences - "Import PSD text as text rather than bitmap" is checked. I can see the layers with text. However, I'm unable to edit the text, it looks like affinity photo has imported the text as if it were  a picture. (Yes, I did close and reopen in case that's what you'd like to suggest. Also, I did safe it as an Affinity file - didn't change a thing.)

What is it that I don't get? Is there another way of importing it, instead of choosing "open with..."? Thank you very much for your quick help! Cheers from Rome/Italy, Lilly

Are you sure that the text layer is editable text inside the PSD? AFAIK PSD is not an open format so it can cause problems opening in other image applications. Could you upload the PSD to check what is going wrong?

I even tried to reconstruct it as it's quite simple - with disastrous results

This is not too complicated. There are text tools for this purpose. And for the PSD: This file has no text layers. The text is rasterised already in the PSD.

Here's the file.

As imported into Affinity, it does not include any editable text, just 4 "(Pixel)" layers that in effect are pictures of text.
