Sany Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 (edited) I just started using Affinity Photo. When trying to click '+' to import photos into the app, I presented with various options (as seen on various youtube videos and demos) including import from cloud, import from photos and what not. Clicking on any of them does nothing. Even the photos app only shows a blank screen. I just saw another topic where the suggestion was to enable access to photos in the settings. I will try this - hope this was the issue. On the other hand, you guys (affinity) can keep it simple by adding the option to import from a location on the apple device or from an external SD directly - most often this is what will happen. I would not want to directly import from camera and mess up the pictures already in the source. Or am I missing this option in the application. For now - I have to copy to Photos app then import from there!? Edited March 26, 2022 by Sany Quote
Staff Lee D Posted March 26, 2022 Staff Posted March 26, 2022 When we import into our app it opens the integrated Files app that's part of iPadOS. This gives you the option to import from local or cloud based storage if they're setup within the Files app. It usually requires to have the cloud service app also installed for them to add the option in Files, this is just how iPadOS is designed. The same applies to memory cards, if they are connected they will show in the Files app to be accessed via our app. In terms of Apple Photos as long as our app has access (set in Settings) you can import photos directly from our app or by tap dragging the image from Photos to our app. Quote

You can actually open any compatible local or remote files that are accessible via the Files app. Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
