Hello, I need to drop an image into a 9x22 inch spread, tack a specific point in that image to the 11 inch center pole-line, and then fine-tune the right and left outer edges by pulling each side slightly from the fixed center. I would appreciate any guidance or links to existing tutorials on this maneuver. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum @Queenie

Try this...

  1. Draw a short vertical curve/line over the specific point area using the pen tool, you can also use any of the shape tools such as the ellipse tool to draw a small circle over the specific area.

  2. Now drag the image onto the line or shape so it nests the image layer under the line or shape layer.

  3. Now move the shape or line to align with the centre pole.
  4. Drag the image layer out of the shape or line layer

Your image should now be aligned as you want it.

Thank you soooo much @firstdefence! I've had success following your instructions. Once this is done and the center is established, is there a way to adjust where the right and left edges are? (I need to pull—or push—the right and left halves of the image independently of each other.)

The only way I can see to do that is to make selections of each side and copy/paste so you effectively split the image into two halves and adjust accordingly, you may need to make some adjustment to the image to correct the small gap that might appear in-between the two halves.

In this image I had to nudge the right side over a few pixels to close the gap that appeared.
