Consistently exporting SVGs for use with fiber laser

Recommended Posts

I use affinity designer to create SVG files for use with a Chinese fiber laser. I'm running into constant issues with exporting SVGs that are consistently useable with EZCad, the software the laser uses. Certain files require export at 96dpi, some at 72, others will only work at 400, some I can't get to work without converting them to an .ai file first. It's immensely frustrating to have to constantly export 4 files in the hopes that one of them will work. Issues range from the imported file being massively larger than it should be (i.e 100x100mm AD files import at 1,000,000x1,000,000mm which makes EZCad unuseable), scattered objects, missing objects, text not exporting, etc.

I know that the issue is with affinity designer because if I use AI or even convert an affinity designer file to an .ai file, it ALWAYS works, 100% of the time, flawless. I'm starting to reach my wits end because I cannot figure out why there doesn't seem to be settings that will consistently export files that will work with EZCad and I really don't want to restart my AI subscription, I bought affinity designer to stop paying $300+ per year.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience?
