Forum login shows PHP code

Hi @TomAn,

Thanks for letting us know and I'm certainly sorry to see you're experiencing this!

This isn't something I've seen being reported previously, and as our forums are provided by an external codebase (InVision) I'm not currently sure what may be causing this.

Can you please confirm for me:

  • Does this happen every time you try and login?
  • Are you signing in from a new device, or the same as you have used previously?
  • If you use a different web browser on this device, does the same issue occur?
  • Do you have any third party extensions or applications which may be interfering with the websites connection?

Many thanks in advance for all the information you can provide :)

Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave.

If you require urgent assistance, please create a new thread and a member of our team will be sure to assist asap.

Many thanks :)

Edit: according to other forum users it is Java code and not PHP code as the original thread title suggested. This removes one important assumption making my original reply irrelevant to this specific case.

original post:

With due respect - php source code delivered as text to the client is in almost all cases a configuration error on server side  (apache), or worse an indication of compromised servers. This issues are often transient. Independent to reproducible or not, to avoid security issues, it must be analyzed and fixed on server side.

It probably is security relevant as source code often contains secrets like URLs or credentials.

You might try clearing your browser cache. I've seen odd things happen when a network error caused corruption of a web-page during download from the server.

I’ve seen odd things happen when a style sheet is missing (e.g. links presented as a bulleted list instead of a nicely formatted row of buttons) but PHP code should be processed by the PHP engine on the server before it’s made available for downloading as HTML that the browser can display.

Many thanks for confirming that!

Can you please try using a different web browser and let me know if this still occurs? It would certainly help with our investigation, as I've thus far been unable to replicate this here :)

Chrome worked OK. 2nd try in Safari also worked fine. Maybe it was a network glitch of some sort.

Thanks for letting me know! I do believe this may have been a one time 'hiccup' - as I haven't been able to replicate this on the few macs I have tested here, and we're not seeing reports of this from other users.

Please do let us know if you experience this again, although I certainly hope you should not :)

Actually I just realized I can reproduce this easily, since I saved the URL when it happened. How can I send it to you without sharing it publicly?

It's hardly a secret. If you use Chrome, open View/Developer/Developer Tools. It's all there for the world to see. I can see this any time I want to.

Or use Firefox.

Or Safari.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
