If you saved it as a .afdesign file, then possibly you accidentally converted them before saving. For example, if you pressed Ctrl+Enter (on Windows; possibly different on Mac), that is the keyboard shortcut for Layer > Convert to Curves. blackstone
It was saved as designer - file without any keyboard shortcode.
walt.farrell
If you saved it as a .afdesign file, and later reopened it, then text objects should still have been text. I don't know of anything except Layer > Convert to Curves (or its shortcut) that would end up with curves instead of text. Sorry. Maybe someone else will have an answer. Staff Lee D Posted March 22, 2022 Staff Share Posted March 22, 2022 @blackstoneWithout seeing this process occur it's hard to understand what may of happened. It's something that I can't replicate on macOS or Windows, is there any other information that you can provide. As @walt.farrell indicates, using File > Save will save to our native .afdesign format which allows everything such as layers to remain intact to be edited on reopening. Nothing should be converted to curves unless you choose to within the app before saving or if exporting to some formats.

walt.farrell
@dannys81: You have a raster (bitmap) image, not a vector image. There are no functions in the Affinity applications to automatically trace a bitmap and make a vector from it. You can use other applications to do that, such as Inkscape or many others you'll find mentioned here in the forums. For that simple of a design you could also use the Pen Tool to trace the top part of the logo and make vectors from it. But you don't need to do that for this simple case. You could draw a pixel selection around that part of the logo using the Rectangular Marquee Selection Tool, available in Affinity Photo or in the Pixel Persona of Affinity Designer. Then you could switch to the Move Tool, and simply move the selection as you want, which will move the contents where you want them. Note that you may have to Unlock the Background layer in the Layers panel, by clicking on its Lock icon, before you can move the selection. dannys81 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.

Theres so many things I still need to explore for sure. Best regards, Danny walt.farrell
