zwilson
I want to know if there is an option when using text with a background color to add padding between the text and the background color, so the background color extends farther out to the left & right or top & bottom of the text. I think you'll find this in the Text Frame panel. Note that it is not applicable to Art Text, only text in a Frame Text text frame. zwilson
Thanks. I'm putting text into table cells. My next question would be is the text in a table considered artistic text or text frame or can table cells have either artistic text or text frame text. Old Bruce
You'll want to look in the Table, I am not all that familiar with it. There are offsets for individual cells (or groups of cells if you select groups of cells). Not sure exactly where they are. Be careful that you don't set the offsets too large, you won't have room for the text. zwilson
Thanks again I'm just experimenting with the table tool today because I've never used it. Old Bruce

I often do this on master pages for the top banner of magazines. I draw a text frame that extends to the area I wish to cover (including bleed). Set background colour and use indent so that the text starts in the right place. Old Bruce

Also remember to use the 'best' justification setting, Centre or Left or whatever.
