elafx
Hello, I like the software you're doing, at least a viable alternative to photoshop, thanks for this, but I run on a small ssd and I have to be carefull with my datas. And I cannot understand how this software can be so heavy on the disk ? Yet it use 152 mb in ram at startup, so the code isn't that dirty.. Some very complex cg softwares take less storage space while being 100 time more complicated so, is there something wrong with my copy or with the packaging ? Thanks Ela
Uuiop
Hi Ela, are you using the "Save History with Document" option? That's a great option, but it makes for relatively huge document files. If so, and you deselect it, your files should be much smaller.
Staff TonyB Posted December 13, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 13, 2015 Ela, Affinity is much more complex than you might first appreciate. The way we achieve performance is to have specific code paths for each pixel format. So Affinity support RGBA8, RGB16, CMYK, LAB16 and other 8bit channel types so it's like having 6 Apps in one. There is nothing wrong with your install, it just uses that much space.
elafx
Ah ok. Thanks for the details I hope you will share those colorspace code dependencies in the future, through a single core. Best, Ela
