tonyjt Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Hi, Can anyone help. I've been trying to follow a YouTube tutorial video in which you need to make a selection and duplicate it to a new layer and then apply Blur-> Average.to get an average colour of the selected area. When I do this I get a transparent swatch, whereas on the tutorial the swatch is opaque. Attached is a screen shot in which is shown the original selection as well as the selection that has the blur applied. Thanks Quote

As you’ve indicated, the Average Blur filter should not result in transparency being introduced where there was none previously. firstdefence and tonyjt 1 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Old Bruce Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Just guessing that the original selection may have had a serious amount of feathering going on. Any feathering will result in a translucent average blur, I tried this down to 1% The average blur on the left has no feathering and the one on the right has 1% feathering. The selection far right marks where I took a selection from. tonyjt Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Thanks for your help. I hadn't notice that there was a large amount of feathering. It works perfectly now. Alfred 1 Quote
