AHARRIS22
Hi, I am creating some logos and want to know if there is a way to save a selection so I can easy select the same thing and just change the colour? I have saved the file as a affinity photo file so I can go back in and keep working on the logo. I have attached a example of the logo. I am also having trouble when saving a white copy as a PNG it also keeps saving the background for some reason. Thanks Aaron Quote AHarris Using Mac with Affinity Photo & Publisher https://www.instagram.com/awharrisphotos/
NotMyFault
Hi Aaron, there are multiple simple ways. You can use the magic wand tool to select all black pixels You can use select>tonal range>highlights or shadows and fill them with any color you can copy the layer, and rasterize to mask. Then invert mask layer. Add a fill layer, and nest mask to it. You can then change the color of the fill layer any time. You can save selections as spare channels. Reuse them later to create selections or masks you can save selections as files, and restore them later Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NotMyFault
Attached you can find the best way: fill layer with mask created from shadows. Just select fill layer and set any color you want. logo fill and mask.afphoto AHARRIS22 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. GarryP
AHARRIS22: Is there some reason why you are trying to recolour a raster image rather than editing a vector/font drawing? Editing a vector/font drawing would be much easier. I only ask as I can remember at least one person who thought that they had to rasterise everything that they added to a document, which you don’t need to do. Having said that, if you just want to recolour that particular image I would suggest adding a Gradient Map Adjustment and changing the colour which Black is mapped to – see attached video. 2022-03-15 08-08-55.mp4

I didn't create the logo I think its been done in a app. I was sent the logos as PNG files from someone else. I am a very basic user of affinity photo and self taught with editing so I don't fully know what the best file types are for what... Due to time it is easier and quicker to use what I have. I have added an 'Gradient Map Adjustment' and this works really well and is easy to use. Thanks for you help.
