So this is a new thing that started to happen when I add a new text box. When I open a new file it doesn't happen but after working on it for awhile the following happens. Big circles appear above the textbox (one circle per letter). Can someone help me?

I am going to guess you have a huge sized stroke on the letters. Check the Stroke pane.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
