Fatcacky Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Hi, I'm new to Photo and am just getting involved with the Gradient Tool. I have created a gradient using the gradient line and added points and different colours etc BUT if I then click away to do something else with a different tool\layer and then click back on the layer containing the gradient and click on the Gradient Tool I don't see any way of editing the gradient I just made. The gradient line used to add points etc doesn't appear. All I seem to be able to do is add another gradient which then obliterates the first one. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Quote
walt.farrell Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. You can edit gradients that you apply to vector objects (created by the shape tools or the Pen Tool), or that you apply to Fill Layers. You cannot edit gradients that you apply to pixel layers, as far as I know. Staff MEB Posted March 8, 2022 Staff Posted March 8, 2022 Hi @Fatcacky, Welcome to affinity Forums Use a Fill layer rather than a regular pixel layer. Go to menu Layer > New Fill Layer and then create the gradient with the Gradient Tool. It will be kept editable. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Fatcacky Posted March 8, 2022 Author Posted March 8, 2022 Thanks for both replies. I was following a tutorial and they applied a gradient to a pixel layer in the tutorial which by the sounds of it isn't great in terms of editing. I've just tried the 'Fill Layer' method and it works a treat. Thanks for that. Quote
