Pioof
I've switched to AD since it now allows "select same...". When I started evaluating v.1 10.4 a while ago, I created a simple test document with several layers, one of which has transparency set to < 100%. I recently noticed a weird behavior. When I drop an object from another layer to that layer in the layer panel, transparency applies. Great. Now if I select this object on the canvas and moves it around, it jumps to the base layer (not called Layer 1 but something like "crop area", for whatever reason that I can't remember) and transparency obviously does not apply anymore. Redropping the object to the partially transparent layer gets me to the initial state, and this bug can be repeated on and on...
walt.farrell
It would help to have a screenshot of the complete application window (including the Layers panel), or the sample document, or possibly a screen recording. Pioof
I attached the file (spectacular from an artistic point of view as you'll see). This is something that I cannot reproduce from scratch, so it is linked to the file history. test.afdesign
Staff MEB Posted March 3, 2022 Staff Share Posted March 3, 2022 Hi @Pioof, Welcome to Affinity Forums The problem is you have placed the object (blue rectangle) inside a layer that do no belong to the artboard (it's not a child of the artboard in the Layers panel) and so when you move the blue rounded rectangle on canvas, it's taken of from its original layer (which has 34% opacity) and moved automatically to the artboard layer (which has 100% opacity). This is by design. Objects that are located above the artboard area on canvas but are not childs of that artboard (in the Layers panel) are automatically moved to that artboard layer. You can disable this behaviour by unticking the Edit All layers button in the bottom left of the Layers panel.
