GRScott
Matt, Attach are two pictures I had worked on earlier. One with no smoothing (Mt RainerAB) and one with smoothing assist (Mt RainerID). You can see what smoothing does to the tree in the Mt RainerAB. Staff MattP Posted June 30, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 30, 2014 Hi Gregg, I must confess that I'm just a bit confused at this point. Are you definitely referring to the Pencil tool - i.e., you hold the mouse button down, then draw a freehand curve around the tree and want it to produce a sharper or smoother version depending on the amount of smoothing you select on a slider? If I'm trying to trace something I always use the Pen tool and place the points in the best positions for my effect - either smooth, smart or sharp points depending on the option chosen on the context toolbar... I can't imagine using the Pencil tool accurately enough to trace around the tree in one go without messing something up? Obviously everybody is different, I'm just trying to understand what your process is so that I can think about how to best improve things for you :) Cheers, Matt
GRScott
Thanks for the reply Matt. Using a Wacom tablet, I would trace (freehand) using either the pencil or the brush. It would be nice to be able to apply a bit of smoothing (not too much), as my line would not show up as too shaky. Too much smoothing and I lose the angles in my lines. Using the Pen tool would take a long time trying to trace a tree, bush etc. At least, for me. I'm not as proficient with it.
