Petar Petrenko Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Hi, is it, by any chance, possible Affinity Spotlight to become a monthly PDF magazine? Something like Adobe has Creative Pro (ex. InDesign Magazine)? RNKLN Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Actually, that's how Spotlight started, a pdf type of magazine one could download. Serif published two magazines before the switched to the current model. Quote Affinity Photo - Affinity Designer - Affinity Publisher | macOS Sonoma (14.5) on 16GB MBP14 2021 with 2.5.X versions

RNKLN Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Objectively, the current model may be better but for some reason I also prefer to look forward to something that's released periodically. RNKLN Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 In the meantime, it would be nice if somebody could share the two magazines. I haven't been able to find them on my hard drive, somehow. Such a pity. 😥 Petar Petrenko 1 Quote Affinity Photo - Affinity Designer - Affinity Publisher | macOS Sonoma (14.5) on 16GB MBP14 2021 with 2.5.X versions
bici Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Let's update this thread for 2024. 1) Are there any good new magazine templates for Publisher 2) Has perchance the template Spotlight that was released for version 1 been updated? The original came as spotlight-mag-afpub-workbook-resources which I found to be a god sent in getting me started. Thanks all. Currently on version 2.5 and lovin it. That was provided to customers who purchased the Affinity Publisher Workbook, which is no longer published. As far as I know there were no updates to the digital resources used in that Workbook, nor the resources used in the corresponding Photo and Designer Workbooks, all of which were published only for V1. bici 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. She-ra Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 But it appears that the resources are no longer available. I purchased the Designer workbook but now I cannot obtain the digital resources (e.g., https:affin.co/panther). Is there still a way to obtain these files. Thank you, She-ra Quote
PaulEC Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Hi @She-ra, Welcome to the Forum Although it's been several years since Serif stopped selling these books themselves (any you buy now must either be second hand or very old stock from elsewhere!) the resources are, apparently, still available. When I click on the link you provided a zip file is downloaded. If it's not working for you, I would suggest checking in your usual downloads folder, or try using a different browser. Thank you, She-ra Make sure you are typing that URL in the location bar of your browser, not in a Search field. And note that it is a ".co" not a ".com" address, as some users have made that mistake and it won't work. She-ra Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Thank you both for your responses. I have tried using four different browsers, used the URL box and not the search box, cleared DNS cache in each browser and then cleared DNS cache using PowerShell, turned off my VPN, returned my Microsoft security settings to default. I am able to go to any other web site, including https://affin.co (which takes me to affinity.serif.com) but not to any of the affin.co/[name of zip file] addresses. The error message varies slightly between browsers, but essentially it is: We can’t connect to the server at s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com. MS Edge also identifies the name of the zip file (e.g., https://affin.co/panther.zip). Also, I may get an error message that I should try http instead of https, which I have done with no change to the result. Could this specific set of affin.co/xxx addresses be behind a firewall somewhere on my compute? I am at a loss. Any ideas? Regards, She-ra Quote
Brian_J Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 @She-ra Have you tried downloading the file using a mobile device? If you’re success with a mobile device, you could then download the file from your cloud account to your computer. Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
PaulEC Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I've tried in both Chrome and Firefox. In both it doesn't take me to a website, it just downloads the zip file to my default download folder. EDIT: I just tried in Edge, it worked there as well! She-ra Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 The only device that was able to download the panther file was my tablet. Thanks for the tip to try another device. Everyone's help was appreciated!!! Quote
She-ra Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 This is to Carl. I tried to ping the amazonaws server and could not do it. I wonder why the error message was associated with amazonaws except on my android tablet? You don't have to spend your time answering. But now the download problem is resolved by using my tablet.
