eWeinhold
Affinity Photo is not able to correctly open 16 bit jp200 files. It opens them, but the image is missinterpreted and covert with random noise. This error appers on WINDOWS _and_ MAC Versions. 16bit-jpeg2000-picture.jp2
PeteMacca
Hey @eWeinhold, I tried to open your JP2 file and got the same result as you. Then I tried some sample 16bit JP2 files from the web, and they opened just fine with AP. Maybe there's a problem with your file???
NotMyFault
Safari renders the file correctly. Affinity opens them as RGB/8 which is wrong when they use 16 bit depth, and may explain the wrong rendering. when you try to place them, Photo hangs forever (on iPad). There is a checker tool available for Windows and Linux. Could someone with Windows OS try if the file is undamaged? Affinity might be less tolerant than other Apps. https://jpylyzer.openpreservation.org/ Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Lem3
One more: https://convertio.co/jp2-jpg/ worked about 15 minutes to convert to jpg and came up with the attached.
Staff stokerg Posted February 24, 2022 Staff Share Posted February 24, 2022 Hi @eWeinhold, This is a known issue with some 16-bit images and is already logged with the Dev team. I've added your image to the log and also left a link back to this thread
