I was following a video which involved using the foreground switcher. I got through the procedure of getting the icon into the toolbar but mine has a white circle with a red bar across it. What does the red bar mean? The video I'm watching doesn't show this bar.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Foxy,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

If you're referring to the following icon -

This indicates that there is No Fill set for this option. A white 'well' would be the colour white, but white with a red line across is an empty/no fill option, if you required an object without a coloured fill.

I hope this clears things up!
