Stifnek Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 Hi everybody. Here's my second project with Affinity Photo. What I like about it is the fact that I took the picture for the train. I mainly played with Hue and black and white filters as well as gaussian blur. I love Affinity Photo although it started crashing unexpectedly. I checked the Forum and it would be a faulty third party plugin; I don't have any. Did anybody experience that? Wosven, William Overington, AdamStanislav and 2 others 4 1 Quote

Can you please open Affinity Photo > Performance > Preferences and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me? I'd also like to request a copy of the application crash report to further investigate. Please go to Applications > Utilities and open the Console app. Crash Reports from our apps can be found in the User Reports section. You can Right Click the required Crash Report and select Reveal in Finder, then attach a copy of your crash report here for me. Many thanks in advance AdamStanislav 1 Quote

The picture has been taken at a train station near Ottawa, Ontario. The background pic is a wallpaper (For Linux, I believe) and I used clouds images from the net for the smoke. The original photo is attached. William Overington 1 Quote

I can see that the Metal compiler is crashing in Affinity Photo, therefore can you please try unticking Hardware Acceleration from the bottom of the Performance dialog, then restart the app as prompted and try editing once again. 16 hours ago, Stifnek said: Does this reduce the crashing behaviour you're seeing please? I guess I should do that with Designer and Publisher, right? William Overington 1 Quote
Dan C Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 I'm glad to hear that! I'd certainly recommend changing this setting for your other Affinity applications - as well as ensuring your GPU drivers are fully up to date. Hardware Acceleration will use your GPU (and therefore by extension the driver) and outdated GPU drivers can cause issues with this option enabled. Once you've updated your GPU drivers, you can try restarting your system and re-enabling this option, to see if its better handled by your system now. I hope this helps Quote
