Incorrect behaviour of regulation and live filter layers inside groups

When grouped in certain ways, live filter and regulation layers wrongly affect layers outside of their groups. This happens under the circumstances listed below.

For a visual step by step guide to reproduce the issue I’ve also uploaded a video.

1st issue

Steps to reproduce:

1st in a new document create a grey vector square, then create another above it

2nd select the uppermost square and make of it a group containing only itself

3rd add a recolour layer and set its visibility checkmark to not visible

4th move the recolour layer inside the group

5th turn the visibility of the recolour layer on again

This causes it to affect layers out and beneath its group,

In the example the grey vector square and the recolour regulation layer are used for the sake of simplicity: other layers would do the same.

Presently, to remedy this, one can group and then ungroup the live filter or regulation layer to let it work correctly, like shown in the video.

2nd issue

Steps to reproduce:

1st in a new document create a grey vector square, then create another above it

2nd select the uppermost square and make of it a group containing only itself

3rd add a recolour layer and move the recolour layer inside the group

4th select the recolour layer and make a group

This also causes it to affect layers out and beneath its group.

I have no quick remedy for this, other than avoiding grouping these kinds of layers in groups without pixel, vector or text layers.

These problems persisted for me after force closing the app, turning off and on the device and creating a new document.

System: iPad Pro 11 3rd gen

OS version: 15.2.1

Affinity Photo for iPad version:

1.10.3.267 (as shown in the app)

1.10.3 (latest release in the App Store)

Thank you for the attention.

P.S. Just one last thing, the same behaviour happens on the same system in the latest version of Affinity Designer for iPad too, in cases like this, should I make a duplicate post in the Designer section of the forum?

Hi Drawford,

Thank you for your report regarding this issue I have now logged this with our developers to be investigated further. In regards to making a separate thread for designer if the bug is the same behaviour it shouldn't be necessary but a staff member might say otherwise depending on the issue, in this case its not needed :)

Thanks
C
