how to use guides in Affinity Photo Develop mode?

Recommended Posts

Hi, very simple question:

when I am editing  .nef / raw files, there is the opportunity to modify rotation, distortion and so on.

But it would be helpful to place a guide to check the lines of the photography. Rules are present, but when I click there nothing happen. How can I use guides in this mode?

Thank you in advance

Best

VL

It's a pain & inconsistent, they don't allow dragging them like in the Photo Persona. However you can add them via the Guides Manager.  Make sure you have Show Guides enabled.

it has no sense

There is some sense to it.

Originally you could only draw guides out of the rulers using the Move Tool, and the Develop Persona does not have that tool. Therefore, there was no way to create the guides except via the Guides Manager.

Later, the ability to draw out guides was added to some of other tools, but not all of them. And it was not added t any of the tools in the Develop Persona. Whether that was intentional (as with the tools that didn't get that ability in the Photo Persona) or accidental, we do not know.

It has surely a sense for the programmers, which job is far from my competencies. As users, we don't understand why to not keep this possibility, by adding a simple arrow for example - again, my comment is surely full of ignorance, but it underlines the user experience.
