Just use the R* and S* in the Transform pane. That means setting them back to 0 and 0.

* Rotate and Shear.

This is a good point, @Old Bruce suggestion almost works but there is a distortion of the shape afterwards. to test create a square 50 x 50mm fit it to an isometric plane the change the R* and S* to zero the sqaure is no longer a square, it loses approx 7mm on it's height.

There should be the option to release from plane without the distortion.

Thank you so much, but I think it only works for fill and stoke.
For example. If I want to open a hole in a rectangle, I can no longer subtract or intercept because it is a symbol and not a curve.

You can do any editing, including subtract - you have to work directly on the layers of the symbol, everything has to first be within the Symbol group.
