When will we get the next major update?

Recommended Posts

The current Photo Customer Beta was just released on 01/25/2022. It's considered a Release Candidate, which I think means it will be the next Retail Release, ie; update.  It fixes issues, primarily the one concerning registration/log-in. No features included.

This is just my opinion, speculating... I think Serif is holding off on the features, possibly for the 2.0 release. When that will be? Only they know.

Affinity Photo 2.4..; Affinity Designer 2.4..; Affinity Publisher 2.4..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Affinity Photo,Designer 1.10.6.1605 Win10 Home Version:21H2, Build: 19044.1766: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s);32GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 3070, 3-Internal HDD (1 Crucial MX5000 1TB, 1-Crucial MX5000 500GB, 1-WD 1 TB), 4 External HDD

Can we get more information about future updates.... when? extra functions? and most important bug fixes....?

Surely you have already noticed here on the forum that Serif does not communicate any dates/ETAs or information about upcoming features - the only possible source is the Beta forum.

As Pyedrono just joined the forum 13 hours ago (as I write this) they may not have noticed that yet :)

To read and search posts on the forum, registration is not necessary at all. Thus, the very fact of recent joining has nothing to do with knowledge of forum customs.

True, but one shouldn't assume that a recent member has such knowledge. They may actually be new and may not have read years of posts to learn how things work here.

Yet another week has passed by, without any, any sign of Affinity Publisher for iPad in the horizon…

And, two weeks since Apple for the second time since early june advertise this vanishing product, -Publisher for iPad…

Serif Labs, what’s happening here? Why do you let Apple advertise your product that isn’t near an release???

The wait for Affinity Publisher for iPad is more and more like an freakshow with no end…

Happy amateur that playing around with the Affinity Suite - really love typograhics, photographing, colors & forms, AND, Synthesizers!

Macbook Pro 16” M1 2021, iPad Pro 12.9” M1 2021, iPad Pro 10.5” A10X 2017, iMac 27” 5K/i7 late 2015…

I would certainly love a new version sooner than later too. However, I'd rather that they not rush out something buggy just to keep up with Photoshop or Core PSP, both of which have just released their latest upgrades. Don't get me wrong. I'd certainly love for Photo to have a proper animation timeline for pixel art and for Designer to have true symmetry that doesn't require a hack workaround. Still, by and large, I can do 99% of what I need with the programs as-is.  Unless the apps are broken, I suspect that just about everybody else is in the same boat. It's really an issue of us being impatient since it's been about 14 months since the last point release and 7 years since v1.0 itself. Understandable, but chanting "are we there yet" won't actually get us there any faster. Best to just keep grinding away - business as usual - until that e-mail notification pops up.

Just a wild guess but could it be that they know something you don't?

BTW, it's "your product," not "you product." You are talking to people, not products. 😀

the core issue ist that I have to deal with all kind of bugs for too long now, moved to an m1 ultra with ventura and things got worse understand that they want to focus on a new release but that does not change the fact that I have no other chance than to use this broken software or get back to adobe !
