Scoot
I'm using IDMarkz to convert a file over to Publisher. The process went fairly well but unfortunately the tables I built in the document were not transferred properly. If I could have simply deleted what was put into the Publisher document it wouldn't have been to much trouble to re-make them, but when I tried to delete what was put in the document, the document crashed. I tried it again and again and all three times I got the same effect. Any ideas as to why I can't delete something from within a Publisher document without it causing the program to crash? Wosven
Hi @Scoot , Perhaps it's better to ask this question on the other app forum, since it's the code they produce that causes trouble once opened in APub.
Scoot
I've requested support from them and their engineering team is working on it. Wosven
Scoot
I'm now trying to figure out what the difference is between these two placed images, as far as how they are handled by Publisher. The reason is the I place in myself (Shift+Cmd+M) doesn't have any options to scale the image within the bounding boxes, but the other which was brought in on conversion of the original ID file has way more options and flexibility. I've attached images of the top bar so you can compare the two.
Wosven
One is simply an image, and the other one is a picture frame, with more options since you can modify the frame, auto-resize the image inside, etc. Scoot

Create a Picture Frame, then use File > Place to choose the image, and click within the Picture Frame. Scoot
Okay, I understand that part, but how can I use the File > Place command to place an automatically framed image instead of an unframed image? Also how to refresh an image link within a frame?

You can't. But as an alternative, Place the image, then with it selected, check the Layer menu. Convert to Picture Frame may help. But the Context Toolbar and the Resource Manager should both offer a Replace option. Wosven
But you can draw first the image's frames, and drop the images inside from the Explorer/Finder. There's no visual indicator on the frame to specify it was modified, and it would be useful, but instead you can click on the red light at the bottom, it'll display the Preflight panel, and you'll be able to correct it simply clicking on a button. In ID if a linked image that's been placed in a ID document is modified the picture becomes pixelated or distorted in ID. To correct this one can refresh the link or go to a little more trouble to re-link it. That's what I meant by refreshing an image link within a frame. Thanks for the tips thus far. It's unfortunate Convert to Picture Frame can't be done automatically.

See the Document Setup at the time of creation or in File > Document Setup... it is the Image Placement Policy. I neglected to include the information that you also have the Publisher preference in the General section to Automatically Update Linked resources.
