walt.farrell
This forum is for users to provide suggestions to Serif for improvements to the Affinity applications. I think your topic is more appropriate for Share Your Work, where users show projects they've produced using the Affinity applications. The other possibility would be Affinity on Desktop Questions, where users ask how to do things. But I'd recommend Share Your Work for this one. A Moderator can move it for you if you'd like. dru 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.

StuartRc
Hi The brushes you use for this type of artwork are really down to your own personal preference. You are on the right lines but have a play around with the options below. How you refine techniques to to re-create the artwork will help lotsGeneral A. Keep the inking on a separate layer (Much easier to change the colour with layer adjustments and correct any mistakes!) B. Create a block of solid colour in the background of each object (Raster or vector) [Vector always better as can rasterise with a single keystroke]. Then use protect alpha to add texture or re-paint. C. make use of opacity when painting. You can also use this to blend colours together and remove harsh edges D. Draw with vectors for the outline; group and raster the results Brushes: Inking A. Use a brush that responds to pressure or apply cycles to the size variation B. Draw with a fine textured brush C. Draw with vectorsBrushes: Painting A. Paint with a 'texture brush' - gives you much more variation | Effects while painting] B. Use opacity to build up your texture | pattern | Colour C Use protect alpha or paint inside vector shape and you could have a play around with this brush set..it was created for this type of work!
