thinkofacard Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 The book publisher requires the pdf to have the image layers flattened (not preserve the layers I guess), and to not include the bleed on the binding side. I don't see options for either of these in the export menu. Is there a way to do this? Or a workaround? Quote
Alfred Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 There’s a ‘PDF (for flatten)’ preset that you could use for this. Wosven Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Hi @thinkofacard, For the inside bleed, look at the value in your document properties. Do you use transparency in your images? The printer probably want you to use a PDF settings like PDF/X-1a:2003 that will flatten transparent objects. I would recommand asking settings from the printer, one that can't give you specifications, because he doesn't know his machine or the way the files should be done could be a loss of money... Quote

I don't quite follow. I'm using that preset, but it simply uses the first .125" from the next page as the bleed. They want the document size to only be the width of the page width (ie., 8.5") plus the bleed of the non-binding side (ie., 8.625"). Quote
thinkofacard Posted January 21, 2022 Author Posted January 21, 2022 The publishing/printing company says to use either x1a:2001 or x3:2002 preset Quote

Set it in "Document Setup…" to zero.
