WalterBeiter
How can I make the hole radius of a pie absolute? I want to have it absolute to restrict the thickness of the pie to us the same thickness an a smaller radius. I could do this with a stroke, but I can't use a stroke with boolean operations the way I want. Is there any way to do this? As you can see in the screenshot, the thickness of the ring with the smaller radius is thinner. But I want to keep it at the same thickness as the one with the bigger radius. A_B_C
Well, you could do it with a stroke indeed and use the Layer > Expand Stroke command before applying your Boolean operations, but unfortunately the results of the mentioned command are a bit messy at the moment. So if you don’t want to do the math, I would suggest setting up an appropriate grid and create your rings by Boolean operations on concentric circles that are snapped to this grid. (You won’t be able to use the Pie Tool in that context, since the control points of dynamic shapes obviously don’t snap to grid positions.) Hope that does make sense … :) Alex WalterBeiter
WalterBeiter
Expand Stroke was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. Here is the result:
A_B_C
Oh, nice … yes, the Expand Stroke command is very useful for all kinds of geometric work. Unfortunately, it just creates too many nodes at the moment. But I believe improvements to this feature are already on Matt’s agenda … :)
