Hello,

I believe I have discovered an issue with the 1.10.4 update, specifically the paintbrush function.

I recently got my drawing tablet out after a stint of not using the device - I have a Huion GT-185. Due to the period of no usage I reinstalled the drivers and simultaneously updated Affinity to the most recent version at the same time. In the brief period where Affinity hadn't finished updating, but the tablet was ready to go, I did some quick sketches using the paintbrush and the tablet pen function was working okay. Once the software was done updating and after having rebooted Affinity, I noticed that the pen was no longer being recognised by the paintbrush tool and I couldn't draw anymore.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times, and as the pen is functioning on other applications and in other areas of Affinity (using the rubber works fine) and coupled with the fact that it was working before the update, I don't believe it is a driver issue. I have made sure that I haven't got anything selected by mistake or anything else, and because the function is working with a mouse input, I think this might be a bug with the tablet pen input?

Please let me know if I am being a bit thick, or if there is a setting that needs to be changed - this has just left me a bit confused as I didn't have the issue before the update, and the pen is working alright in other areas of Affinity, such as using the rubber and select tools as well as amending settings.

I have attached a video demonstrating the problem.

I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light, I'm looking forward to drawing again.

Thank you in advance,

Best regards,

Briony Tindall-Cousins

Hi @Briony Tindall-COusins Welcome to the forums.

I can't seem to view your screen recording to see the issue on your system. But I've done some testing with a Huion Q620M (latest drivers) we have in the office on macOS Monterey using Affinity Photo (1.10.4) and all the tools that use the tablet are working fine.

Can you try resetting the app to defaults, this is different to uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Hold down the CTRL key and open the app, when the window appears, release the key and click Clear. It's also worth double checking to make sure Protect Alpha isn't enabled on the Context toolbar when the Brush Tool is selected.

@Lee D I'm having the same problem.  I tried resetting the app to defaults.  No luck.  I'm using a Huion H610Pro with the V14.6 driver on Monterey 12.1, Affinity Photo 1.10.4.  Some paint brushes work with the stylus for the drawing tablet, most of the other brushes don't work.  When it doesn't work, the preview of brush when I use the mouse shows the correct size, when I try to use the stylus, the size of the preview of the brush is much smaller and when I try to draw, the history shows that the action was recorded, but nothing shows on the drawing.
