DAD91 Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Greetings all. I was experimenting with Perlin noise in AP 1.10.4. I'll try to upload the file but here is the issue with repeatable steps for me. Create a new document (8x10 photo) Try to use Perlin noise in the blank document (nothing is available; the menu item is unavailable. None of the filters should be available) Create a shape like a rectangle and select that layer (it should explicitly say it is 'Rectangle'). Try to use Filter->Noise-> Perlin Noise Adjust the settings and apply. For my attempts, the rectangle gets destroyed and the pixel layer now has the Perlin Noise application as a pixel layer across the entire dimensions of the document. Depending on the blend mode, there may be a ghost vestige of the rectangle embedded in the new/modified pixel layer, but the rectangle is no longer a real element. Try different filters on a similar rectangle layer. Each other filter retains the editable shape or dimensions of the original rectangle even if these other filters are applied destructively. Only Perlin Noise destroys the original rectangle shape and dimensions as it converts the layer into a pixel layerFilter Test.afphoto. 575454515_FilterTest.afphoto Quote

NotMyFault Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 If you want a non-destructive perlin noise filter, simply use the procedural texture filter and select the perlin noise preset. When nested to the rectangle, it will be restricted to the area. DAD91 Posted January 14, 2022 Author Posted January 14, 2022 The replacement is fine, but the resulting layer isn't consistently the dimension of the document set up. More searching shows the vestiges of the previous layer is due to the blend range, so that solved that. The size, however, is not the same as the document set up. In this case the 8x10 photo dimension. It seems baffling and inconsistent still. I fiddled with the same document; created a new document and the Perlin noise pixel layer is unrelated. Let me fiddle some more. Quote
