Klobrillenmann
Hello everyone, is there a way to load a kind of a masking / strength map in the Liquify Persona? I tried to find a way to load a map in Liquify like it´s possible for the Displace filter. I don´t mean to load a mesh but an image based map. best regards
firstdefence
Interesting question, but unfortunately there is no such way. Out of curiosity are you talking about a height map or something similar? Do you have any examples of the effect you are after? It would be an excellent request option and you can make that suggestion here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/55-feedback-for-affinity-photo-on-desktop/ Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Klobrillenmann
I don´t mean a height map but more a distortion map, if this is the right term here. In the provided example I used the Displace filter to distort a logo according to crinkled paper. The map for the Displace filter is taken from a smoothed out version of the background, which can be hidden after usage. I regularly use this technique to distort shadows I apply on surfaces or on the ground. This looks somehow convincing on first glance but the truth is, I have no control over the direction pixels are shifted like I could do in the Liquify Persona. A combination of the mentioned techniques would lead to liquification with a "mask" or a "map" which controls the amount of distortion I apply to an area with a brush stroke. Then I would love to shift areas under bright parts of a liquify map/mask in a direction which makes sense together with the background. Areas under dark parts of a map would be shifted in the perpendicular direction. Displacement filter.afphoto
