Hi,

I am having a major problem with a 114-page publication file. All the work had been completed but when I then attempted to tweek a page margin the app froze and bombed out. I have tried various things but a variety of strange instabilities caused the same result. I work on an iMac running OS 12.0.1.

Can anyone suggest a workround here?

Thanks

NK

A bit vague.

Anyway, you can try creating a new one-page document and import the pages (Document > Add Pages from File) from the original document into that one

Assuming the "problem" is with the core structure of the document rather than on-page items then it might cure the "problem"

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Hi @Nigel Kendall,
welcome to the Affinity forums!

Since this is no expected or typical behaviour the possible workarounds are more or less just guessing. For instance either/or/and …

• Close all open documents and quit the app, ideally reboot your computer, too. Reopen the document to see if that helps.

• Choose "Save As…" to save a copy of this document with a different file name. Close and reopen as above.

• In application Preferences > Performance disable Metal and Hardware Acceleration. Relaunch to see if that helps.

• In case you try to alter the margin on a Master Page or for a range of pages: try to alter it for a single spread or page only.

• Instead of altering the margin of a specific page/spread:
– Create a new Master Page with the desired margins and assign the master to the wanted pages.
– Add a new spread at the end of your document and try to alter the margin of this empty pages.

What were these strange instabilities in detail? Do you get them with this specific document only?
