herr.rehkopf
Is it possible to dodge/burn masks in Affinity Photo? I've tried it several times with different documents, but with no result … my fault? Greets, Tobi.

Staff Leigh Posted December 8, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 8, 2015 Welcome to the forums herr.rehkopf :) It's possible following these steps: 1. Create a new Pixel Layer from Layer > New Layer 2. Go to Edit > Fill... and select 50% grey from the Custom Colour option 3. Set this new grey layer to use the Overlay Blend Mode With the grey layer selected use the Dodge and Burn tools :) In the next Affinity Photo update you can set a custom keyboard shortcut for a 50% grey fill which should make life easier! herr.rehkopf
Thank you for the reply, Leigh. But that is unfortunately no solution for my problem, I guess. Maybe I expressed myself wrong: I want to modify layer-masks (alpha) with the dodge- and burn-tools. In Photoshop I use this technique to fine-tune the masks – especially by hair. But there is no effect, when I tried it in Affinity Photo. Tobi.

Staff Leigh Posted December 8, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 8, 2015 It's not possible to use Dodge and Burn on Masks. Feel free to start a new thread in the Feature Request section asking for it to be added :)

It's in the original post on this page: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/11929-using-channels-for-masks/ Leigh
herr.rehkopf
This seems to be a good workaround. Thank you, evtonic3.
