Guest
I don't tend to use the document presets all that much as they're hard to navigate visually, and I typically know the document specs I need, so I default to simply entering them in at the side in the new document pop-up (see video below). EVERY TIME I launch ANY Affinity application, no matter what settings I previously specified in the settings panel, the UNITS (and only the units) will reset back to millimetres—the dimensions and the dpi retain what ever values had been set previously. If I keep the app open, the settings are retained each time I create a new document—this works totally as expected, but as soon as I close the application (again, this issue is present in all Affinity applications) the units (and only the units) will always be reset to millimetres the next time I launch the app. Of course I can always select a preset and it will change all of the values for me (including the size and dpi, requiring me to renter those), or create a new template (I still don't really use these, but I probably should), or simply resign myself to always having to change the units from millimetres to pixels, points, etc. However, having this issue fixed at some point would be marvellous. document_units.mp4
GarryP
I don’t think there’s anything to “fix” here. The ‘factory presets’ are simply what they are, starting points for creating your own presets. And User Presets and Templates, as you have mentioned, already exist to do what you want. Granted, the “My Presets” should probably have better organisational functionality (folders/sorting/etc.) but that’s already been requested elsewhere. Once the User Presets functionality has been improved then you probably won’t have this problem, if you use them as they have been designed to be used. As you have said yourself, you can use presets to do what you want but you don’t use them, and that’s probably what the problem is.
carl123
The video shows you are in the Web presets screen. Document units for Web presets should be defaulted to pixels not millimetres (or anything else) This is how it works on Windows Even if I change it to millimeters, it will default back to pixels Maybe it is a bug on Macs?
