Richard Pring
I select an object against a background with the selection brush, refine, invert and then go to filters/blur and either lens blur or gaussian blur, I get a soft edge to the object. What are the optimum settings to avoid this? Can I reduce the boundary within the object and would this help??

Requires background layer to be of type pixel (not image). Then, apply blur to background layer without any mask. PS: Use inpainting brush (or clone brush) to fill in area behind hidden foreground. It only needs similar colors of the surrounding area.
