Kingwhistle
Is it possible to create a brush which paints dots? size and frequency +/- depending on pen pressure??
v_kyr
Hmm, I believe @StuartRc can possibly best answer this. - Take a look after his immense brush sortiment here in the forum under the forums resources section. For dots you can try out this one ... StuartRc
Hi, I can as @v_kyr has indicated there are a couple of brush sets you could try to get this effect. In addition to the dot texture brush already mentioned it may be better to download and try a couple of the Project Brush Sets. The texture brush set is quite old now! So have a play around with these 2 sets (I have updated these to version 2 and work much better with the later brush engine!) A. Project Brush Set 03 Big-T B. Project Brush 04 Ammonite Big-T set was build specifically to create the effect you are requesting.. There is a link to a test drawing here Hope helps! StuartRc
You can just use the size of the brush to vary the effect. Or adjust the X Y jitter to edit the scatter Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.3.1 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.3 1.2279 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.4046+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-

No Problem!...I noticed that this set does not have any sketching | drawing brushes to supplement the stippling...Whoops!.... But the Pencil Sketch brushes would help a lot. Most of them are small and textured so should not interfere with the stippling too much... Kingwhistle
Thank you. I very often am augmenting and refining my images in AP and AD, they either start as analog drawings or photographs. I haven't yet created any art "in the box". I would like to be able to do a better job of: -smoothing out and repairing jagged digitization (sometimes I work with images which are already digitized). bad captures are the worst. -recreating pencil-paper smudge and smears. -layers of pencil strokes (5 or 6 strokes which add up to a line, or 10 -15 strokes with the side of the tip which add up to shading) -stipple effect, and also stipple effect with G. Blur over top I think these brushes will help! Thank you. StuartRc
Kingwhistle
a little off topic; Would you recommend any YouTube tutorial specifically on brush use in AP ? Or better yet, what is your take on: -should I create a category for my fave brushes? -shortcuts for switching between brushes? -can fave brushes be preloaded with different color/size settings so I can switch between them quickly? StuartRc
I have almost finished a new project (Project Brush Set 28) set for this!...I will put it into resources asap! Added some new stipple brushes with a combination of Solids (inking) | Pencil brushes | and Texture brushes taken from Inking set and concept art set! Should be a bit improvement (won't need to jump around sets!) v_kyr 1 Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.3.1 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.3 1.2279 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.4046+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-

Argh! There are so many now!.. I have been watching a lot of concept art tutorials recently, which are equally as useful. If you have an artstation account all learning videos are now free. I came across this recently on all the brushes you will ever need! but it is PSD But also responded to a similar Question here at the bottom of the threadFrankentoon TV has a lot of demonstration videosenvato Tuts has a general one here andOlivio Sarikas + the rest of the channel Should you create a favourite...I would say yes absolutely.. It's why I created the Project Brush Sets...It is difficult to trawl around huge brush sets. better to be more selective and have dedicated sets for projects even though sometimes they get duplicated (See affinity Spotlight article). It is easy just to create a category and copy brushes to the location. Use import and export with some renaming if they are compete sets you wish to duplicate. I may be wrong but I don't think there are any shortcuts for switching brushes... Preloaded..mmm well not really but you can duplicate brushes and edit the nozzles | Textures and Dynamics to create different brushes/effects or adjust spacing size etc to get a different result. With colours it is sort of yes and no...Not for Intensity Brushes but Yes for image brushes Hope this helps!
