HELP RECOVERING CORRUPTED FILE

Recommended Posts

I not infrequently have problems with not being able to read saved Affinty Photo files. They loads just up to near the end of the load point and them come up with the message failed to load, the document appears to be corrupted. The file appears find on the canvas and all the layers appear displays in the studio. This is very frustrating with lots of lost time. The most recent file that this occurred with isn't particularly big (~600mbcard 2 - set up for printing a.afphotocard 2 - set up for printing a.afphoto). How can I repair corrupted files? What is causing this and how to prevent?

Appreciate help with this as it is both frustrating and a source of much wasted time!!

I have attached the most recent example of this.

Thanks

Hi,

sorry to hear about your issue.

There are some does and don’ts:

Good:

  • save on internal hdd/sdd
  • save in folder where no other software has parallel access (backup / sync / …)
  • Have multiple copies of important  files, on different media (ext. Hdd, cloud)
  • save in regular intervals (e.g. every hour) to limit data loss
  • check for and avoid known bugs who could lead to corrupt files:
    • adding assets using live filters
    • building large asset / symbol libraries
    • using OpenCL / Metal when getting rendering issues (certain models only)

Bad:

  • Saving directly on ext. Hdd / NAS / Folders with cloud sync
  • opening files concurrently in more than one app (Photo / Designer)
  • Not having several current backup on separate storage

Your uploaded file is 6k size only, probably truncated and unfortunately unsolvable.

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.
