Trying to Edit a Complexed PDF File in Affinity Photo ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I wanted to ask you guys if this thing is possible in Affinity Photo ? So I have a PDF File it has been made not by me by someone else which has a report kind of structure, with rows and columns in it and Data in each row. I want to insert a new line of data in between existing rows and also edit existing data in the Row. is it possible doing Affinity Photo ?

Mind you I gave it a shot, I used the Text Button on the Left Menu bar of Affinity Photo Desktop version, but it is giving me whole lot of problems like misalignment of data entered in one row in the column with another, since I believe the PDF File has been made using some Rows and Columns Height and Width Pre-Fixed and Programmed alignment. I dont know how to do it in Affinity Photo ? So is it possible ?

Guys I cannot share the PDF file as it has some sensitive data in it, but you guys can give me an idea and I will try to figure it out.

Please tell.

Thanks

Without seeing any sample or portion of text for tryouts etc. the whole is hard to tell and thus would be only speculative here. So with that descrisption alone I for my part can't tell!

Further, apps like Acrobat Reader can usually tell you and give some hint with what program a PDF was initially created if you look under the info panel there.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

Hi @augustya,

Our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here, we were extremely busy over the Christmas period and working from home during the pandemic is unfortunately extending our response window to be longer than normal, many thanks for your continued patience and understanding here.

As you're editing a PDF file with 'table' style data - you may find that Affinity Publisher is able to better handle the editing of this file. If you don't have Publisher currently, you might consider the 10 day trial, linked below -

https://affinity.serif.com/publisher/trial

Unfortunately without being able to share the file, it may be hard for me to offer further suggestions - if you're able to share this directly with myself, please let me know and I can provide an upload link for the file, which will remain private and will be deleted once I've concluded testing/offing advice :)

We've disabled file attachments to PM messages as a security choice, so unfortunately this isn't possible - apologies!

And Dan the file uploaded here in this Dropbox Link will directly come to you ?

Serif have assured us that the Dropbox links they provide are private, and the uploaded files are visible only to the Serif staff.

So the file could be recieved by anyone from the Serif Staff not just Dan ?

Even if Dan's the only person who can receive it there's no reason to think he'd be the only one who looked at it.

Yes, and he would share it with anyone else on staff that he needs to share it with to diagnose your problem.

You would not be sharing with Dan, but with Serif. But why would that matter? What should matter is that you are not sharing it with the general public, or anyone outside Serif.

I can confirm that the Affinity Dropbox is used by multiple members of Affinity staff, mainly in the Tech Support, QA & Development teams.

The file would be uploaded to a secure location that technically any Affinity Staff member signed into Dropbox could access, but they would have to actively seek out your file to find and download it - and I do not believe any member of staff would do this as they have no reason to.

At least for the period of time that I have been working for Affinity (as this is all I can speak for), I believe we are actively careful and respectful with users files, as we understand the sanctity of personal / private files that you would not wish to be shared in any manner.

Hi Dan !

So I have gone ahead and uploaded the PDF file which I was trying to work on. I have also sent you a PM describing what exactly was I trying to do. So if you can tell me looking at the PDF File and my objective which of your (Serif) Product can do this well.
