Smooth node, continuous curve (Bézier) versus Smart node 'best' fit. Certainly results in a different shape curve between segments). It appears to be a difference in the initial calculation made to determine the angle of the lines leaving the nodes between segments. Once the curve is drawn they appear to behave much the same in terms of control handles. Seems mainly applicable to tracing with the pen tool. VectorCat Posted December 24, 2021 Author Share Posted December 24, 2021 it’s beginning to feel as though the definition of a smart node is that it is a node that is smart. somewhat tautological…but maybe the smart node is a node that uses the “tension” of neighboring nodes to inform its own tension? There is something similar in the 3D modeling realm…the splines or nurbs or whatever, influence each other. Can help lend a more organic feel to the shapes you build.
