Steffenvy
With the double star, you can move both inner radius and point radius to 100%, whereas the star tool's inner radius is clamped to be no farther out than the straight edge (the percent depends on how many points there are) I would like to be able to make shapes like the one on the left, which works because it uses double star, but without being limited to multiples of 2. GarryP
Is there some reason why you can’t use the Polygon Tool – see attached image? (Curve % is optional.)

That's a different shape because it's a smooth curve. It's just I've once wanted to use the star tool farther than the straight edge and I think there's no good reason it shouldn't be possible
GarryP
I gave the curved version simply as an example, e.g. quote: “(Curve % is optional.)” If you can’t use the Polygon Tool to get what you want then I don’t really understand what you want. Can you give a specific example of a shape, in this case, which you think cannot be created using the current tools?
Steffenvy
This shape, but without using double star so I can use an odd number of points:

Even if you start with an odd number such as 5 or 7, you’re still going to end up with an even number when you add the intermediate points. prophet
Is see the OP's point. Perhaps a simpler shape for an example. On the top star, I can't adjust the red "inner" points of the star to extend any farther outward. Thus I cannot make the bottom shape using the Star Shape tool. I know, but I was referring to the star "Points" count
prophet
I can, however, make it with the hexagon tool. Screen Recording 2021-12-13 at 3.36.45 PM.mov Alfred
GarryP
Steffenvy: I think part of the problem is that you are trying to create a ‘convex’ shape with a tool which was designed to create ‘concave’ shapes. You can create the shape you pointed to with the big red arrow, if I have understood correctly, by using a combination of the Polygon Tool and the Node Tool, see attached video. 2021-12-14 08-48-28.mp4 Alfred
