I am very much a newbie with Publisger so apologies for a basic query.

I file/place and select a picture from a file containing a collection of images  and drag to a page. If I then want to add anoher picture from the same collection, I have to close the collection, position the first one on the page and then refind the file of collected  pictures to select another one. How can I keep the collection of pictures open in the bckground and keep going back to select another image from the collection to add to the page.

Open the Assets panel and (temporarily) add all the pictures you want to use, as described here:

What do you mean by that?

If you mean a .zip file, and if you opened it as part of File > Place processing, perhaps you should just Open it outside of Publisher and simply drag images from it onto your Publisher pages.

Or perhaps you should unzip it so it acts as a normal directory, and successive Place operations will remain positioned properly for you (automatically, I think).

Alternatively, you can select multiple images at one time, and Publisher will put them all into the Place panel, and you can then operate on them sequentially from there, as long as you don't switch from the Place Image till to a different one.
