Hi there,

When I export my Publisher file to PDF, the text on one page only is rasterizing, though nothing in the afpub file suggests this text is different from any other page/text in the file.

Even more weirdly, the text rasterizes halfway through words and characters. See attachment.

Why do these kinds of things only happen when you've got a tight deadline?!!

any help greatly appreciated

That’s not the only time they happen, of course, but you only notice when they do. :)

Check that you haven’t left a transparent rectangle or other shape on top of the text.

Thanks so much! That was it! I had a group of vector objects which was reduced to 35% opacity partially over the text.

I moved the group below the texts and now it's fine.

However, this has highlighted a related problem: why do vector objects rasterize (in an exported PDF) if there is opacity? This appears to be true of grouped and ungrouped vector objects (in this case SVG).

It actually depends on the version of PDF standard you're choosing in your export options. More recent versions allow transparency to be kept without rasterizing.

Also pay attention to Rasterize option in your export options. It allows you to choose what exactly needs to be rasterized.

Ok, thanks. Much appreciated!
