SonyaS Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Since downloading the new update, I am unable to print from affinity designer or photo. Once it is sent to my printer (WF7710) my printer shows "paper jam", there is no paper jam though, it just stops pulling the paper forward. I am able to print from all other programs on my computer though. Please help! Thanks! Sonya Quote
thomaso Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Hi @SonyaS, welcome to the Affinity Forums! Do you experience the issue when printing from Windows or macOS? Does the "paper jam" error message occur on the printer's display or within Affinity on your computer screen? If the latter, can you upload a screenshot of the message and one with the first page of your corresponding print dialog? Does it work to export your Affinity document as PDF + print that with your PDF viewer app? Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

Can the Affinity print dialog window in fact know about & display a paper jam? I suppose it would be rather an info available to the computer system, as for instance here for Windows: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/clear-false-printer-jam-message/13de61a8-4110-4e42-92d6-f1eb9a064eb4 In macOS you could possibly find a failing print job hanging in the printer spooler folder, accessible via the macOS system preference "Printer & Scanner", and delete it there. The paper jam error is displayed on my printers screen, not within affinity. I have been unsuccessful exporting as a PDF and printing from the viewer. My settings are all correct when I have checked the printer options on affinity and my epson printer Quote
SonyaS Posted November 21, 2021 Author Posted November 21, 2021 It seems to print without problems when I use the default settings. However, each time I attempt to print with plain paper, highest quality, slow speed, and mirroring the printer has a "fake" paper jam each time. Quote

NO, the printer driver communicates with the printer and can recognize printer states here, which it will indicate to the OS. But Affinity reuses the printer drivers panels for it's setups and something might be during that initialisation phase of those panel settings, setup the wrong way as default. Sylvan Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Just wanted to report the same thing is happening to me in the latest version of Affinity Photo. I thought my printer was broken. I kept trying to print a 4x6" photo with certain settings (both borderless and normal printing). Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. It ended up just not working at all. I decided to try printing from Photoshop....no problems whatsoever! Has anyone else had this issue and any solutions come up? I'm trying to convert over fully to Affinity from Photoshop. Quote
